The Twilight Zone DVD complete series collection with all episodes and seasons on DVDs
The Twilight Zone (the original series), created by Ron Serling was broadcast between 1959 and 1964, and it was a success, becoming a classic science fiction series, and a reference for many subsequent Sci Fi movies. Ron Sterling did not write the scenario all by himself. He was aided by numerous Sci Fi writers such as Charles Beaumont, Richard Matheson, Jerry Sohl, George Clayton Johnson, Jr., Reginald Rose, Harlan Ellison, Earl Hamner and Ray Bradbury. Despite being classified as a science fiction television series, The Twilight zone is more than a fantastic movie, as it also has accents of horror. The charm of the show consists of unpredictable ends, which often offer a moral lesson that can easily be taken out of context of the fantastic world and applied in the everyday life. It is a combination of Sci Fi, macabre and horror, with unexpected twists that always take the viewers by surprise, even if they expect an intriguing finale. The program was created after the successful broadcast of Tales of Tomorrow 1951â€"1953 and Science Fiction Theatre, aired between 1955â€"1957.
Because of the huge success it encountered, the show has enjoyed two remakes, one in 1985 (until 1989) and one in 2002 (until 2003). At that time, on a barren field from the point of view of films and serials, it was one of the series that fascinated viewes, along with Tales from the Crypt, both of which were soon followed by another hit, The Outer Limits (also a classic, with the first series broadcast in 1963-1965, followed by a successful remake in 1995-2002). The intriguing TV series has inspired many movies, radio series, comic books, and themed magazines.
It is highly unlikely that the producers of The Twilight Zone consider to attempt a new revival of the series, as the last attempt (in 2002) failed after only one season, despite the large number of known actors who have appeared on the show: Jason Alexander (George from Seinfeld in the role of Death), Portia de Rossi (Nell Porter in Ally McBeal) and Eriq La Salle (Dr. Benton in ER). It seems that the world does not need anymore the moral Sci Fi-horror stories depicted in The Twilight Zone.
